How hard are these to find nowadays? I have gone through almost $250 worth of rolls with no luck.

Since they were minted in 1975 and 1976, almost 1.7 billion were minted and 30+ years later they are still relatively common. I find one in my change at least once a month- that is more than I can say for some of the State Quarters.

Hi Keith:
As informed by Biokemist6, 1976 Quarter is a common coin.
If you are interested, I can spare one for you.
Sincerely
George

I've kept every one I've come across in my change since I can remember and by now I have about 30-35 of them. Lately I seem to have been getting a very large number of them compared to a few years ago.

I got 3 of the Bicentennial quarters from circulation last week (each from a different place), and almost 40 of them from circulation just since Jan. 2008. I haven't seen this many of them in circulation since 1976!

The 'economy' is emptying many quarter jars

I'm also seeing more earlier State Quarters (that are in too good of a shape to have been in constant circulation for 4 to 9 years).

I have four rolls right now. I get two or three quarters each week from the register at work but when I go to my bank and get rolls I find none. Maybe my bank just sucks? I appreciate the free offers but I am not that desperate yet.

I agree that people are just emptying collections now. Couple of weeks ago, I cashed in all my 76 quarters and halves. Course till then I always thought they were something worth holding on to. Boy was I wrong.

For me that is an irritating subject. Back in 1976 myself and a friend went nutty collecting those stupid things. After many years I had accumlated hundreds and hundreds of dollars worth of them. My friend had thousands of dollars worth. About a year ago I tried to sell some at coin shows just for the fun of finding out how much they are really worth. I really didn't want to sell them but thought I'd ask. Most dealers simply said not interested. One dealer said $0.24 each but only if MS grades. So myself and my friend went to our respective banks and dumped the entire mess. In a savings account I would have at least gottem a few cents profit.
