My wife went to Atlanta Mart today in Atlanta Georgia. This is where buyers go to place orders and buy items for there stores and shops.

I told my wife to check with the silver dealers for some bars or coins in .999 silver. At 8:30 am today she called and said the very first shop that she went in had some , I think she said half pound coins. I said thats 8oz's each, right. She ask the guy and he said yes. She ask me how many did I want.
I ask her the price, she replied, somewhere around a $100. I ask, each. Or do you mean a $100 plus. She turned and ask the guy again. I heard him in the back ground , $99.00 each plus tax. I ask her how many he had, she said three. I told her to get them.

My wife then said these are not bars but large round coins, one side has a lady in a long dress and the back has .999 and I missed the rest.

Then the guy said to my wife that silver has already gone up again today. And my wife says back, you already have given me a price and I want all three.

Wife will be home tonight around 9am or so. Will try to get pictures. I have no idea if she checked any where else for silver

PP-If I read it right he bought 3 8oz silver rounds for $12.38/oz. Good buy considering it's at $13.51/oz right now.

They could be Troy Pounds, if it is it will weigh 6oz. Most of the rounds we get at the shop that big are troy weights.

Precious metals are traditionally weighed in troy units, not avoirdupois units. 31.1 grams= 1 troy ounce and 12 troy ounces= 1 troy pound. 28.4 grams= 1 avoirdupois ounce and 16 avoirdupois ounces= 1 pound.
Rest in Peace

cuzzx,

As others have stated these are troy oz (12 oz to a pound) so these claim to have 6oz of silver in each round. You paid about $16.70 per oz. I would advise you to weigh them on an accurate scale when you get them. I've bought off-brand rounds (Not Englehard or Sunshine) and they consistently come up a bit short in weight.

I think you paid a bit too much for them. We all have in the past; it's part of our learning process. At least you didn't mortgage the house for them.

I have since found that they are the troy oz.
Learning, my wife called when she found them and I thought that was to good of a deal. But I bought them anyway.

I think I'd be a little more worried about the possibility of those being fakes than the actual cost per ounce. If you already purchased those, you should attempt to at least have a coin store or coin show dealer check them out for authenticity. With so much China stuff appearing lately, hopefully those are not some of them.
You mentioned taxes on the sale. How much was that? Not that if's to important but by me sales taxes are 10.25% so that does make a difference.
Then too there may be some numismatic value in those so post a better description of even a photo if possible.
