If You Found A 1943 Copper Cent?

Not really. You would just get a hole in the coin. The real method would be to use a arc welder, melt it into a Copper blob, send it in for metal consistancy of coins of that period.
Or start a collection of wierd coins and call it an error collection.


There are numerous error coins of all types but only some gain fame and notariety. When I was a kid there used to be a story going around that Ford would give you a new car if you found one of those 1943 Copper Cents and gave it to him. Probably only a rumor but it started the notariety of that coin. In the 50's no one really thought to much of any coin that was doubled but the 55 Double Die get so much publicity that it became an over night hot item. Although almost every year of Lincoln Cents there are some Double Dies of some degree or other, that 55 became the double die of fame.
Other errors such as the 74 Aluminum Cent, 59 Wheat Back Cent, etc just don't have the popularity and although the value is up there, just not as impressive as a coin that everyone talks about.
