All original, not a reproduction. My dad was a serious collector with many rare things that were used in books bc he had the only known specimens in existence. I inherited some extremely nice stuff from him when he passed away.

And it is an 1858 Remington but .44 cal, not 36

Just think Helen Keller might have used it in the Olympics... Definitely a nice piece to hold onto and keep safe for many, many years, thanks for sharing
