The advise I was given by the experts here in CCF was Never, Never, Never clean a Coin! You can acetone dip and with a soft cloth blot dry but that is all that's recommended!

Sarge50 is half correct . As far as the soak in acetone don't blot with soft cloth . Let it air dry . Your coin looks like you already Harshly cleaned it with Brillo . That's a no no . you just ruined that coin !
Rest in Peace

After pure acetone dip use a spray bottle of pure water to clean off the acetone. Then air dry.

Of course I would say after the water rinse with acetone to remove the water. Then air dry.

I have never taken anything to this particular coin it is how I pulled it out of my pocket a couple of weeks ago. I didn't know if it was even OK to use dawn dish soap and hot water and a washcloth. I have always known that older money is valuable and wouldn't wear it down by scrubbing it with anything harsher than a washcloth.

Any kind of wiping, scrubbing, etc will leave marks and changes on a coin which will devalue it. You may not be able to see it, but experts will.

Dawn, being a detergent could react with the metal. Rubbing with the wash cloth could cause hairline scratches and provide a polishing action. Neither of these is good. Frankly I wouldn't do anything more extreme than soaking in distilled water or acetone. I doubt the water would have any effect, the acetone might remove some of the black but nothing with restore the original silver color other than polishing (and it will look terrible), and nothing will restore the luster that has been worn off. So you are not going to be able to make this coin look much better than it already does.
