so I have been looking mainly on ebay for original rolls of unc. morgans dollars, Peace dollars and Walker halves. I bought a few rolls but would like the input of more experiences collectors. In general are unc. rolls a decent way to collect? should the rolls be left unopened or do most open and search them? are there some reputable dealers on ebay who I should seek out? last question- are these likely original rolls and where do dealers get them? thanks

my personal opinion, if I came across a sealed roll of Morgan dollars, showing "cc", on the end coins of the roll, I would have to open it, I would assume most people including dealers, would also open the roll. Most rolls, on ebay of so called original rolls of Morgan dollars, are not truly un searched. The person selling them knows exactly what is in them.
Rest in Peace

The likelihood of a truly unsearched roll of dollars making it to a retail level is infinitesimal.

Even in the 70's and 80's there were only a few sources for unsearched rolls.

Coins do NOT have bargain opportunities regardless of the type or source. Education is the only way to have a good chance at breaking even. Which is why you are asking.

20 hours spent CRH will likely result in a payback of a dollar or two per hour. Unsearched rolls of LMC with a dime or an Indian on the end is a loaded roll. You can get bags and rolls from the mint which will give you a tiny chance of a cool variety or error. Most splotchy pastel rainbow toned coins are probably intentionally toned.

Many older coins were never issued in rolls. Mint bags were the main method of transport.

I have seen a couple of sellers in nevada that sell unopened coin rolls from bank storage.
I have bought a few rolls only when the price is below $1000. Expecting low MS coins at $50 each.

Don't expect rare dates because they are rare...
Read the sellers reviews, even the good ones, they will tell you what type of coins the buyers found.
