Picked this one up a couple weeks ago. Liked the die gouge on the obverse between the B and U , and the weak Mint Mark sold me! I knew there was a missing Mint Mark Top 100, but I was not sure if this one was Top 100 or not....NOT ! The pic shows the Mint Mark pretty well, a little bolder than it looks in-hand. Good lighting I guess. So...VAM 6A it is, still looking for the 6B !

Don't be with that one.

I haven't started on the 21-P or S yet. The 21-D still consumes me. Last week I was able to acquire a VAM 1E and 1G both in Later Die States (LDS), and a nifty 1I. Two are R7's and the 1G is an R6.

**footnote: If any non-VAMmers want to know what I just said, please ask! I didn't know a VAM from a box of Cheerios a year ago.

Great coin. Haven't paid much attention to the 21s. Guess I'm going to start though. There were a couple dozen in the last group I aquired. Do believe I've found my first Hot 40. 1878S VAM 17. Will try and get some pictures up later today.

Thanks guys. I don't really go for any particular coins, but I go for what I can when I can. I was looking at a couple hundred 21's and when I saw that die gouge I knew it had to be something.

No one pays alot of attention to 21's...I find lots of Infrequent reed coins, I have three or four "Double N" coins, and several of the pitted reverse varieties. I really want to find that VAM 6A. I like a coin that is missing something but can still be identified as what it is with other diagnostics- a no mint mark coin like that sure fits the bill ! Were it not for that die gouge the 6A coins may just as well be Philly coins, and no one would ever know the difference.
