I enhanced the obverse photo by reducing lighting, increasing color contrast, and sharpening the image. The glare hid quite a few significant contact marks. Here is the enhanced photo:

The gouge above the eye, gouges in the field to the left of the nose, scratch on the neck, scratches on the cheek and behind the eye, and in the field to the right of the cap are significant. Possibly of greater concern is likely disruption of the luster on the cheek, behind the eye, on the cap, on the second cotton blossom, ear lobe, and small bear claw. The reverse is better, but not enough to pull the grade higher. IMHO, MS-61 is the top for the coin, and there is a possibility that a grader could see the disrupted luster as evidence of slight circulation and drop-grade the coin to AU-58. I don't think the contact marks would detail the coin.
Bottom line: leave it in the ANACS slab. The downside risk of regrading is greater than the upside potential. JMHO.
