At $85 for just a "GOOD" DD it's worth a second look!

Really difficult to tell. I have seen a lot of wheat pennies frmo the early 30s and older that have a smashed appearance to them. So it is kind of hard to determine if it is a DD or just mushed copper.

Usually, for this DDO on a worn coin you can just sort of see the thickness on TRUST and know what you've got. Yours shows this, but it also shows the same thing all over the place with flattened lettering. Can't tell from the photos, but won't say it isn't. Grape's request is probably what is needed, close ups of IGWT.

Note the rims on your coin. Normally they have a rim that is raised:

See how the rims are flat on your coin. That gives you an idea that the rest of the devices are worn down as much as the rim. So when the rims are flat, it is coin wear. Because the devices are tapered, as the devices wear off the coin, the wider the devices get.

I have a 1917 DDO-001. It's pretty worn but for me the tell tale that it was the real deal was the upper curl of the nine shows the split separation.
