Hello all,

Anyone know of any CLAD 1969 D halves? Coin has a copper silver look to it.
Or not possible since CLAD halves started in 1971.Houghts?

EDIT: I might have to break this one out and weigh it.

Sometimes the 40% silver can look like that. (40% Silver 1965-1970-D) Clad started in 1971 for the halves.

It's silver clad. Meaning there is a copper core. usually it is not noticeable but some times it is. Like the second from the bottom, far left, in coops pics.

I think you need to weigh it. I see spots on it anyway, so taking it out of the wrapper to weight it is no big deal.IMHO.

@John1

I was thinking the same ...since it has spots. The whole set is terrible.

EDIT: But I don't know if that gets me anywhere. I have weighed enough to think the 40% and the clad weigh the same.
I have a few 40% that weigh 11.3 and a few clad that weigh 11.5.

I have a clad that weighs 12.24... and of course I get it back from PCGS with no attribution. I think I will call them and ask what their half dollar tolerance is.

The photos look to me like a normal 40% silver 1969 Half Dollar. The core should appear silvery/grey in color because it's made of 20.9% silver and 79.1% copper. The slightly red copper colored edge may be due to the silver toning, but I don't see the bright red copper look of a pure copper core on your coin. I think it would be bright red if it wasn't silver, simply because it's still in the sealed mint packaging.
