Hi all,

I recently found this proof set with an unusual penny in it. It looks like only the center of the coin is struck proof, also the date is unreadable. I hope you can help me figure out if it's just some weird toning or a minting error?

Thanks!

Thats corrosion, improperly stored set. I would break it apart and store the other coins before they get corroded also.

It looks like the coin was set was subjected heavy humidity or moisture. Do you see any cracks or splits in the plastic case?

Crack the set and save the rest of the coins. This cent is toast.
