Metal Question On A 1999 D Nickel - Coin Community Forum

Yokozuna Pillar of the Community United States 4618 Posts	Posted 11/03/2019 1:19 pm to the CCF! I'm not sure what caused it, but it didn't have that pebbled surface when it left the mint. It could have been exposed to acid or something like that. The rim and edge have been smoothed by circulation wear. The high points on the design, eyebrow, cheek, shoulder, etc. look like they are smooth also. Just a 20 year old nickel. ANA ID: 3203813 - CONECA ID: N-5637 Clean a coin that may be worth collecting? I've put all denominations in my pool pumps basket (for up to a week) to see the effect and got that pebbled look Report this Post to the Staff
