I found this 1964 D quarter while trying to get through a family members jug of coins. Looking for any information you guys might have. My darn USB microscope went down in less than 24 hours, the pictures don't show much. Sorry

Looks like a rim from another coin is raised on parts of the quarter after looking at it with a magnifying glass

@tony, your pics are fine. This quarter is silver, so is a keeper regardless of damage. The oval dark pattern on the obv could be toning. THe dark patch on the rev looks more like grime. You could give this coin a soak in an acetone bath and see how much clears up.

Yeah thanks, just looked at it again before work. Seems to be some type of doubling on multiple letters and globs of metal throughout the front. And numbers on the rim where the black streak goes over it on the bottom right I believe...also a glob of a copper colored piece in the same area as the number's.

I took your advice and gave it an acetone bath then let it air dry. This is what it looks like now. I also see a line of hardened clay or what look like clay around numbers, letters and the rim. Any info would be great

Nice work @tony. Can you please state explicitly which letters or features seem doubled with the coin in hand? I'm just not seeing that come through with the pics. Thx.

looks like a well circulated silver quarter, I don't believe there is ay thing else going on here, other than staining on the coin, and possible rust marks..

Under magnification just looking quickly the mint mark looks doubled with a stamped letter b or something similar inside of it. The D in dollar, all of the letters in God we trust, the date...and it all looks like copper. The black tar throughout America on the reverse look like a metal with a scope. All the scratches on Washington or most are actually raised metal. And right after the 4 there's raised numbers/letters through that black mark.
