Anything you can collect all of by writing a check is worthless. That's writing checks, not collecting coins.

I think what Biggfredd is trying to say is that its very easy to just buy everything in one fell swoop but it'll mean alot more to you if you put in the work to collect them. A wise man once said "It's not the destination, it's the journey."

Exactly. Aussie decimals have only been around 42 years, you could go buy a whole circulating set of any denomination, or even every denomination in mint state, all at once. But why would you? The fun is in the searching and putting together your collection. That way you will appreciate it so much more.

You can find them on ebay for cheaper but where's the fun in that?

While I agree with the comments that it is better to build a set than buy a set, I will defend CC's desire to buy a complete set. Everyone has a right to collect coins the way they want to. There are plenty of reasons why one would want to do this. We do not have to agree with them, but we should respect them. Maybe CC wants to buy this set from an acquaintance that needs money and he wants to respect the effort they put into building the set by offering to buy it at a fair price? I am terrible with putting prices on coins, so take this for what it is. That price is on the lower-end if one were to use the Red Book as a guide. I will call it a fair, lower retail price that is way higher than what a dealer would pay for it. It really depends on the circumstances. Are you wanting to help out a friend? Then it is a good price. Are you wanting to get a set at the best price? Aim a little lower. JMHO, YMMV.

Many apologies, the question was about price, not whether clearwatercoins "should" buy a whole set. Jbuck, you are right, we have all let our own opinions get in the way of answering the question.
With the price of Ikes in Australia, go for it. They are about $10 -$20 each.

I would say that's not a bad price for a complete set & a Dansco. I know a graded master set that are all 32 coins slab by ANACS is $800.00

I think it is a little high, $225 would be more avg. But, comparison of sets is difficult for pricing as with the IKEs, there can be quite a bit of difference in how well they were stored over the past 30+ years. I have seen sets with cloudy proofs, or fingerprinted coins. If you intend to keep them and upgrade a few, take that in consideration when buying a set. It is best if you can see them before purchase, as the price may be fair for a nice set.
