I have in my collection a Republic of Italiana coin that has a word written near on the rim (see where I have circled) Can any body help what the would is? There is also an 'A' on the neck of the effigy. Should an 'A' be there?. The image is below-

Just adding the image of the reverse coin. Please note I've re examined the coin for the 'A' after cleaning the surface and also my scanner and found that there is no 'A' visible. The appearance of the 'A' in the first image I sent could be cause of lighting plus unclean scanner etc etc. Sorry about that.

Yes, the name should be there. I assume this is a name of the person who designed the coin..
Don't know about the A.

yes, the name is the coin designer, while the A should not be there, and I don't know about italian 200 Lire w/ this variation, anyway I'll check better since there are many variations in the 200 Lire coins.

Could you also let me know the coin year, or put online the picture of the reverse side ?

Actually the signature is for the engraver not the desigher, and it is "M.VALLUCCI", while I can confim that I don't know any 200 Lire date w/ the letter "A" on the neck.
