This one was just listed, and certainly hard to find a new obverse DDO that old. Stoneman originally saw it, as he has been helping to try and track down a 1929-S DDO-001, and brought it to my attention. We agreed it was not die 1, but were confident enough that it was a DDO that I bought it ($19.03 including shipping) and submitted it to Dr. Wiles for a CONECA listing. So with a huge thanks to Stoneman and his keen eye for detail, I present the newest CONECA listed DDO Wheat cent. 1929-S Lincoln Wheat cent doubled die DDO-002 (doubling on the hook of the 9 and under the U of TRUST)     |

And Coop, you would have to ask that. I saw that eye when I was checking this post a while ago and wondered the same thing. The coin is off to ANACS in the morning but will try and remember to have a look at what is going on there. But I checked the coin pretty well, and I'm sure Dr. Wiles did also, so probably just a nick.

The Variety Vista Doesn't show one. But there is a line across that area on their example also.

Well the VarietyVista example is of course the same coin posted here, as right now this is the only known coin with this DDO (that is sure to change as people start looking for it). I'll try and remember to check in the morning. |
