I'm sure we're gone over this before but couldn't find anything through the search.

Looks like a very nice VAM 9, an R-3 coin.

Hi Becky,
Thank you, can you please elaborate on R-3? I have no idea what it means and I don't have the VAM book.

In non-VAM language it appears to be a repunched mintmark. R-3 is a rarity rating, and it depends on who's rarity scale you use as to whether that means it's common or scarce. In the EAC rarity scale an R-3 is common. In the URS (universal rarity scale) an R-3 is very rare.

In " VAM speak" R-1 is common, R-8 is unique or nearly unique, so an R-3 is "scarce", but that means hundreds of thousands of this VAM where minted.

It is a repunched MM, but is neither a Hot 50 or a Top 100 coin, so chances are that there will be little or no premium for the coin.

But having said all this, it is still a very cool coin and a great find and thanks for sharing the pic. Your coin is a better example than the one in the VAM book.
