Alot can be said about the Obverse and Reverse regarding the copper layer missing in areas being PMD or not (which I believe is). But my question is about the edge of this coin. It is raised about what seems to be 1/3 of it's over all width, and centered all the way around. Possibly a foreign planchet? I've found myself quick to always jump on the foreign planchet answer to everything, but in this case what else could it be? I have a Euro, but it's thicker and the center is inverted I believe. Also weighs more. This coin weighs 2.38 grams. And thoughts?.... Report this Post to the Staff

Even if a foreign planchet was struck the rim would be smooth if it filled the striking chamber. As far as I know, the edge of any planchet is smooth until it's reshaped by the strike.
