Hello,

I'm starting to read "Handbook of United States coins 2009." By: R.S. Yeoman This is the 66th Edition. I'm also considering reading "Coin Collecting for Dummies." Are these good starts?

Thanks,
Rich

The RedBook is probably the best all-purpose coin book you can buy and CCfD is a good book if you are a beginner collector.

I started with Krause; World Coin Catalogue 1900-present 2006 and I have received my Red Book 2008 two weeks ago.
The Red Book is much more informative.

Hope I was helpful

The Blue Book (handbook) is good, but the Guide Book ( Red Book) is much better.

More info, better essays.
Also, the different years have different essays.

A ton of info that is not easily available elsewhere.

Go for it.
