Any clue is this caused by someone coloring the coin or maybe from the environment? Found in coins that were inherited by a grandparent that passed recently. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Perhaps this coin may? have been wrapped in chlorinated white paper. If that is the case, it will eventually patinate to a much darker than usual gun metal gray.
