While playing around with a usb microscope I pulled out some dimes I put away about 30 years ago and saw this on the reverse. Someone told me it was just a ding, but I thought I'd post it here to see what you have to say. And the area in question, On the right is a regular coin, and on the left is the one I'm asking about. Thanks in advance for your input, just trying to learn.
If it were a die chip, it would be raised. Incuse is usually a bad thing. 99% of the time it is damage. But no other areas are damaged. So it might be struck through debris? I don't see a push out on the obverse. So not sure what it is? But not much of a premium because it is so small.
