I stumbled across this seller while researching some 16th c. Polish coins. https://www.ebay.com/sch/emase-36/m...trksid=p3692Sells a lot of ancients, a few Venetian medieval, and a few late 16th c. Polish. At least one of the Polish coins (the "Pinocchio SIgismund) is a poorly made fake. The other Polish coins have more authentic designs, legends etc., but also appear questionable. But most of this seller's coins are ancients, many getting quite a few bids. Opinions? Edited by tdziemia 11/18/2019 3:41 pm

Fakes. The seller has a 34 feedback and is selling multiples of rare coins such as a Caesar elephant denarius. He is located in Serbia, a hotbed for fakes and runs private auctions. All of these are red flags in themselves, not to mention the quality of the coins. The number of fake ancients on ebay; especially poorly made ones, is getting ridiculous.

They have a lot of rare and valuable ancient coins all in the same condition...some of which seem like clear fakes. I imagine the whole lot are probably fake. Very dangerous coins - a lot of those won't be distinguishable once they are out in the market.

Why pay more ! You too can own a rare ancient coin ........
I will say the fakes are obvious castings I saw one genuine The bronze Byzantine of Justinian Likely a few of the others are good But 90% plus are duds
It seems that some folks really just don't care And if they are informed of the facts They still don't care ! Because someone else will tell them otherwise

At least 95% are fake, there are a few common genuine coins listed and the arrow heads appear genuine. But there are just too many fakes for me to even consider buying anything from this seller.

Thanks. I figured as much, and am not in the market for ancients. Mostly wanted to get this out here in case anyone on CCF is looking at this stuff, and if we have someone here who reports purveyors of fakes to ebay. The Polish coins will also fool buyers. The seller already has one neutral feedback that points out there are modern fakes for sale here ...

Quote: Serbia, a hotbed for fakes and runs private auctions. Due to this reason, I almost exclusively buy from sellers in the US, Canada or occassionaly Western Europe. Call me biased, but most of the fakes are from China and eastern Europe.
