Hi. It's been awhile since I've posted but I have a question. Did the mint ever produce pennies with writing on the outer rim? If so, disregard this post. If not, I may have an error coin. I have to find the right coin magnifier to upload pics but I definitely will if this is, indeed, an error.

Did the mint deliberately put lettering on the rim? No.
Is it an error? Possibly.
Is it post strike damage? Much more likely.
How can we tell which it is? Need good images.
