VF details. I think the scratches across the bust line are too severe to warrant a straight grade

I'm leaning towards VF-30. It's a beauty with no issues.

VF25 - no signs of damage either, mostly I run across holed and repaired examples, this one is spectacular - just a really old honest worn coin.

I see what you're saying. Almost looks too deep to be adjustment marks. If straight graded I'd say VF20. Very original!

In hand they do appear to be adjustment marks. The guy who graded this must have been having a bad day

That's VF all day. Worth a re-submit. Maybe NGC.

I'd have to double check against some of my own, but off the top of my head that cert number looks like it might have been around the time a while back when they were insanely tight.

I would have said VF-20. F-15 is REALLY harsh for that coin. Did you buy it for F-15 money?

adjustment marks not damage, damage like that would affect the rim edge and denticles. Undergraded by a couple points IMO.
