Sort of looks like a Cud, but the surfaces are not raised as that on a true Cud. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Is this coin round? It doesn't look like it. If it is out of round, I would say it was altered? Also the weight. The coin should be in the range of 3.11 grams if it is normal weight. round and less then, then I will have to think a bit more on your coin.

It is perfectly round and to my regret my scale is not available as it was destroyed by my not so Great Dane. The rim narrows a bit at the point of interest.

I'm with Coop! More information is needed on this one.
ANA ID: 3203813 - CONECA ID: N-5637 Clean a coin that may be worth collecting? Please DON'T! When in doubt, leave it dirty!!

Well add to this thread when you get a weight for it. The dog couldn't have affected the reverse that much.

A new scale is on the way. I will repost the weight of the LWC in question.

Sorry about the delayed response, but with holidays and vacations overseas it couldn't be helped. My scale came in a while back and the 1954 LWC weighs in at 2.737 grams. Thank-you in advance with any comments and Happy holidays goes out to all in the coin community forum.

So it looks like a thinned planchet issue. SO it looks like a lamination fell off the coin. I want to say it is a pre-strike peel. The weakness of the devices don't show ghost images of the devices missing. But ends of the peel looks like some remained. Note the incuse mark at 6:00? Also it looks like a fold over at 3:00. But between these two points, nothing appears. So to me it appears that part of the central area fell off before the strike, and the ends look like it was retained and struck. Strange error. (a keeper)

Is the photo distorted. If not the coin is substantially out of round.
However the reverse does exhibit a De-lamination.

Please forgive my ignorance, but error coins are not my specialty. What do you mean by 'out of round?' It has a fully rounded collar that tapers a bit at the delamination point. It doesn't have any clips to the planchet and from what I see the cent looks perfectly round.
