Hi, I'm not sure if I'm doing this correctly or not, but I have a 1937 Lincoln Penny with what I believe is a busted die or just a planchet. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That is not a broken die issue, but a struck through a piece of copper debris during the strike. They peel off after the strike. It is a minor error, interesting to know what they are:

On your coin if this were a broken die issue, then the affected area would be raised like a die crack. Instead the opposite is happening, the breakdown of the debris is leaving incuse marks on the affected areas.

I still put post in the wrong forum from time to time and I've been a member for 8½ years!
