This one caught my eye. Is the coin possibly a heavily circulated proof strike or perhaps a re-tooled date? Maybe the discovery reverse die # 3?

Honestly, it looks like a combination of soft strike and wear. I would avoid that one.

I would also find another example. This one has zero eye appeal.

Agree. The odds of this being a heavily-circulated proof are virtually zero. Die pair #3 (good question!) - equally unlikely.

the number of things that would have to have happened to make this legit are near impossible. Best steer away.

Agree, this year along with the 1908 S and 1909 S are the 3 Indians I won't purchase unless certified TPG. The old adage "why would someone not pay the grading fee to attain top price if coin is solid" rings true for buyers at my level of experience. Out of curiosity what grade is this coin, G6 details?
