I recently started collecting coins ... N I have came across this 2017D Ellis Island ... I have a ring that runs on the inside of the edge of the obverse side of the coin n runs right through the middle of every word ... N Washington's face looks like it may have a scareface like Lincoln 1955 penny ... I would like to know if I have a strong possibility of a 2017 D Ellis Island error ...because everywhere else I have read on this says there isn't one known but this coin surely looks like it may be ...So any kind of help would be very appreciative from a new beginner collector ... Thank you for time of reading this n God Bless ...

Unfortunately, that is damage from a coin roller or maybe a vending machine.

to the CCF!

with Gincoin43. The coin you have has been damaged by a Coin Wrapping Machine. It must have been on the end of the roll. When the machine crimped the paper closed, it scraped the coin. PMD It's a spender and only worth 25¢.

That is because those in the picture are pennies, since your quarter is bigger the lines will be more closer to the rim than what they would be on a penny. This is Post Mint Damage. if you notice all the lettering where the lines go through are all cut into the coin and look smudged, if this were an error that circle line would be coming out of the coin (like mountains) sitting on top of the lettering instead of going in (like a cut) and all the lettering would be intact. Long story short its only worth 25 cents and if you stick around long enough you will find plenty of these, I assure you.

Well if you don't want to believe people that have seen literally hundreds of these, then spend the money and send it to PCGS or NGC since you think its an error. If your mind is made up you might as well send it in.
