Hello All, I am new here. I found this coin while walking in a historic cemetery yesterday. I believe it was buried and the top soil had eroded down enough for me to spot it. Can anyone offer me advise on grading it? I spent some time trying to figure it out but it seems tricky because some areas are more worn down than others, especially on the reverse. I believe it to be a small date Capped Bust Dime 1821. Thank you.

I'm no expert but the face looks a bit suspect.

It's genuine. Being in the ground for that many years, tends to distort the devices sometimes. I have a Large Cent like this.

The face just shows pitting from years of being buried. No expert but what I have learned for Counterfeit Detection from this site is to study the date. The date here matches size shape and position looks good to me. Got me jealous.

Weakly struck in spots but the hair detail is amazing. EF-40 details, environmental damage and scratched.
