Normally I wouldn't think anything of this but the substance is coming through (or could be) the hole on the back of FDRs head. Just curious about that, the holes and the faint writing above the head and ear

It looks like environmental damage to me. The surface roughness and dark areas suggest corrosion or maybe even fire damage.

some sort of PMD, most likely environmentally in nature.

It weighs 2.4, I'm sure that's an acceptable difference or environmental damage could cause that. Just crossing all my Ts since we're doing this by pics
