I was relooking at this 1983 d LMC coin for the spiderweb-like surface cracks on the plating when I noticed the TRUS on the rim over TRUST, which is offset slightly to the east.

I don't think it is PSD as TRUS is in the proper sequence.

Let me know your thoughts on what this might be called.
Thank in advance. PP55

ps. The neat spiderweb is only stress cracks on the plating. You can see some deformation on the reverse image,at the base of ONE CENT.

pss.As a side note it might have some light thickness on the 983, U of TRUST and E of WE.

Maybe this could help? CouchDiver1978's coin is very similar to yours.

Could also be random damage that looks like letters.

I can see damage on the reverse. I honestly think it's just damage and not an error coin.

The first sign it's damage is that it is incuse. I actually do believe it's backwards. What you call the S is the R: the vertical bar can be seen on the right side of that "letter" which means it's reversed.

Thanks QH72, E&V and Spruett001 for the repliies.

QH27, thanks because I saw that thread but couldn't find it. Those letters were definitely reverse order. And mine isn't the one refernced in the link because the rim restricted second strike would be raised.

E&V, This one has definitely seen better days but there is something odd about that area through ONE CENT as well. That crease may have been on the coin when it was struck.

Spruett001, It is hard to tell but I was looking at the full curve over the T, which looked like the S to me. If it were in reverse order from PSD this is where the R would be but there is no straight side (east side of the full curve) that would be the leg of the R. The rim letters over the real RU look deformed.

I know incuse lettering almost always indicates PSD but
I thought there are a few legitimate errors that are incuse (but they are not mirror images)?

Unfortunately, the lettering on the rim isn't as clear as I first thought.

@pp55, on the other hand, it looks to me like this coin was struck with a slightly MAD. Not enough to add value to the coin though.
