@ Spence I did some research as to how it happens. Turns out the mint mark was added to the die by hand. Making it an error die.

Hello, I'm new to this, I saw this was a coin the same as I have a question about, but different issue, I hope it's ok to post and ask here.
As you can see in the microscope pics, the 1 in the date is not visible yet the coin still has great detail. When the coin is tilted in bright light you can see a faint 1 appear in the date. Is this an error or something of note, or am I just imagining it as an error? Thanks for your help!
