A proof would be graded a PR66, not MS66. Ask your buddy how much he will give you for it. Anything over $100.00, take the money and run.

Beautiful coin, but not a proof. Proof coins do not have cartwheel luster.

Very nice coin! The OP never asked for a grade, but I need a 1900+ Indian Head for my 20th Century Circulation type set. I am collecting MS65 or better in PCGS holders. If $100 is a fair price, and you guys feel this would grade MS65 or better, I would be interested in buying it and sending it in for TPG. I am pretty new here, so if this violates any of the rules, please let me know. Thanks! Here is the link to my registered set. https://www.PCGS.com/setregistry/alltimeset/200338

the coin appears to be MS64+RD. not $1000 if it comes back 65 then you are in the $500 range at 64 maybe half of that. I don't think it has a chance at 66 due to the obverse surface blemishes

Proof coins have sharp devices. Yours is a nice coin but is not a proof.

Your coin has at least 9 black spots on the obverse , could be more but tops and bottom of coin is cut off . Not a proof but real nice strike . Not too sure what TPG would give it because of all the spots .
