CoinHunter27 Pillar of the Community United States 5887 Posts	Posted 12/06/2019 8:15 pm A plating bubble is trapped air/gas under the plating of the coin (Very common). If it pops, then it will expose the zinc inside and then the coin may begin rotting, hence the name zinc rot.
