I just squared away the deal on this coin. It was one of those that I knew would be purchased on the low grade level, but still has tremendous eye appeal from where I'm sitting.Seller's photo. 103 more graded ones to go. Let the journey begin. It's going to take a while. Edited by DoctorBurnzy 12/08/2019 08:54 am

I Like it! I think those branch mint Seated quarters can be quite difficult to find. Yours is a nice example. May I ask, why do say it would be 'purchased on the low grade level' ? I have an example of this date and mint also.

I like it too. I say low grade level because I'm going to try and pick up AU/MS graded pieces for this set around the $300 - $600 and a few prime pieces around $1,000 where I can.....and when I know I won't be able to get that grade around that price I will be seeking a lower grade level. This is one where I knew I would not be finding a straight grade for that price range. For that reason I knew I would be buying at a lower grade level. But , a stellar example of the grade it is. Nice eye appeal. It may take 20 years to complete, but I'm going to shoot for 10 years.

This is a scarce coin, but hardly a rarity in the tough Liberty Seated quarter series. It is a truly expensive series to collect in, say, even F or better. Personally, I don't care for this coin with its blotchy obverse toning, and the CAC sticker here is meaningless in my experience. You are wading into very deep waters, and if you settle for coins like this when you get to the big guys ('49-O, '52-O, '53 NA, '54-O Huge O, '59-S, 60-S, '61-S, '71-S, '72-S, and most of the CC's just to start), you will likely lose money. Serious collectors of this series are VERY picky, and I cannot emphasize this more, I have completed this series twice in my life, and both times sold them at major auctions. I would be happy to discuss this series with you privately but you do not accept e-mails at present. Set your standards higher.

I understand where you are coming from with your passion behind these coins, Coinfrog. And I can see you have experience and foresight down the road on this type of venture. Putting two sets together at two different times and auctioning them off is rather impressive....wow...very impressive. However, I like this coin. I think it's has a lot going for it with it's details remaining. It could be much worse. If I could get the 109 coins in this set barring errors and any varieties collected over a 10 year period in this condition looking no worse thn this coin. I'd be a happy camper to have amassed it. Obviously, the CAC doesn't really make a difference in this grade level. It was just garnish on the coin for me. If I wanted to take the time and spend the years necessary to go after the big rarities in market acceptable grades for resale I would. However, I have no intention whatsoever of selling it once I'm done if I even survive long enough to get there.....I'm not too sure if I'll be here on the right side of 6 feet above ground before I'm done giving it a go. Lol. I say 10 years because it sounds more attainable of me being here at that time. But, in the same token, it would mean me making sacrifices on better grades to get it done. If I got it done in 10 years and I were still among the breathing...because truly no one knows when their time is up....but I don't want to start something that'll take 20 - 25 years to finish and not get there. I'd rather do an attainable goal of 10 years or so and pat myself on the back for getting it done....and then give it away to a nephew or godson or goddaughter. The money means nothing because the only true collector in this scenario.....would be me and me alone. I hope after receiving it as a gift it may spur them into collecting down the road as well. But, that is to be seen. I know if I went after the key pieces in better grades....I'd never get it done...thus raising the question why even start then. I'd rather just do it for the enjoyment and be able to say to myself I finished what I started.....and pass them off in my last will and testament after I have them all re-slabbed with my name on them. Lol. Let them worry about upgrading the key dates if they want to do so 30 years after I'm long gone I hope and had ample time to enjoy the set as a growing adolescent before doing so.

I wish you well in the pursuit of this wonderful series. Our philosophies differ, and in the interest of not being a nagger in your efforts, I'll not offer remarks on your additions in the future.

Coinfrog, I enjoy your remarks so please do not refrain. Because although I won't be buying the best all the time in this series I will still need to know at times when there are plenty of better examples in roughly the same grade which I passed up on which would've been a better choice. Maybe on some of those I will do a return on for a Coinfrog or another's recommendation made. I will probably be showing photos in the future now of a handful of coins per year to ask for help in purchasing or linking site pages....in a segment I will call Yay or Nay. Lol....but seriously I probably will before purchasing some. like this one. https://www.mountvernoncoinco.com/c...erty-quarter Is it a Yay or Nay

Perhaps we can develop an e-mail exchange. Otherwise, best I stay on the sidelines.

As for the Seated you linked Doc, I'd say yay. Good eye appeal.
Also,
I had sent you an email a few weeks ago with no response. Did it get filtered somewhere by accident? My Yahoo has been filtering messages from friends and family to spam automatically, even though I have never marked any of their messages as spam.

I like the coin. It does look like the slab is scuffed up on the rear, partially obscuring the lower portion of the eagle. Hopefully you can clean that up a bit.
I have no problem at all with this grade of coin regardless of cost. Particularly a PCGS/CAC.

I don't think I received that email GrapeCollect....and I did the 3rd icon which only took me to my profile page and didn't allow me to open my email to receiving emails.
