A lot of these when through vending machine and casino machines. Just a damaged circulated coin. The DDO that year looked like this:

Well on a roller coaster, you will experience a lot of ups and downs. But when you do find a doubled, You will know it and won't even question if it is, or if it isn't a doubled die. You will know it is.
