anyone wanting a 1948 wouldn't want that one.
rare or not (17 for sale on ebay alone right now)a problem coin is a problem coin, and considering the problem with the coin market... that's a problem !

sure this coin is worth somewhere between a couple hundred bucks but it will be really hard to sell to get your money back.

Unfortunately, I think it would probably be more of a turn off to some people than the actual hole would have been (myself included) I waited until I could afford one that was problem free instead of buying one that I would have been disappointed with like that (no offense). Ultimately, there is likely a buyer for it around a few hundred for sure!

Without a doubt, the holed 48 dollar would sell for at least $200, and most likely, $300

I am still in at 400 Canadian , could sell that in a heart beat !
The other possibility , that everyone has overlooked ,this could
be expertly repaired . There are guys out there who could do a masterful
job. Would still be details but look a lot better .
One such expert from the past was Lowell Clark , his work was excellent!
Coin repair Stockton is still going strong as well!

Best to value this coin with two value components.

Full bullion silver value component is retained, but
80% to 90% of the numismatic value component is lost.

This is also a good way value gold coins and all other rare coins, that have had a previous jewelry 'life'.
Depends on the type and severity of the impairment or 'details'.
Doesn't help when the TPGraders won't touch impaired or damaged rare coins, and you have to be able to value them yourself.
