Here are five groats from the 1500s - four of Henry VIII and one of Phillip & Mary.

That's a nifty early Irish.
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis

I'm still waiting to see bigger pictures of those groats and why is it called a William & Mary when I can only see Mary?

Nice photos Tom - not so sure about the rhyme? So is the ghostly outline behind Mary meant to be William of Orange?

thanks Matt! This coin is from the reign of Phillip of Spain and Mary I (1550s). Only Mary I is shown on this coin. Some later coins show their confronted busts.
William of Orange and Mary II ruled later in the early 1690s.

I bought another Henry VIII Irish groat this morning at the coin show in Dedham, Mass. This one has the crowned initials "h" and "R" for Henricus Rex.
