Hello I am new to this site and coin collecting, but I came across this 2000 D penny that got my attention. The penny does not have the copper finish, is not flat, has wire brush marks as if someone used a wire brush on it but yet the images are not disturbed. It is Concave as if someone struck it with a ball peen hammer yet has no damage to either side. The edge has Multiple rings like its been pressed harder than normal creating a four ring edge. I do see that in the word "America" the A leg and the M leg are touching. Another is a normal penny fits within the edges of this penny, could be because of it being pressed too hard.
It's not a counterfeit, It is intentional damage. The fact that another cent fits inside the rim and there is no copper indicates that it is a Texas Cent. At the top of the sidebar under Search, type in " Texas Cent" for an explanation. There are numerous examples.
Thank you for the quick response, and thank you for the welcome. Now that I know how this works I will not be a stranger. You guy are a wealth of information with a quick turnaround time.
We are here to show you what we see on a coin. I often explain how it happens rather than giving a yes or no answer. Images to me help say so much with very few words.
