I have only recently gotten into coin collecting and have found some coins that I'm not sure if they are what I think they are. First one is what I believe to be a black beauty 1959 P Jefferson nickel. It's in pretty good shape as far as I can tell. While not FS it does have two steps intact. The second is a 2005 Jefferson nickel that I believe to have a very heavy grease strike. The third has be completely stumped, it is a 2000 D Jefferson nickel but I've never seen something like it. It is completely weak it the entirety of the strike but doesn't look like post mint damage as the fields look very clean. It also has a very raised rim on both sides as if it were pressed to hard. Any help on these coins is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

to CCF. I think you got the first two right. The last one is a Dryer Coin.

#3. Damaged by going in a spin in a commercial clothes dryer:

Spender. They get worse the longer they are left in there.

The first thing noticed on these is the rolling over of the edges, reducing the diameter of the coins. Edges are made thicker and wider the longer they remain in the dryer. No premium for these. They are just a damaged coin.

@sm, first welcome to CCF. Second, while the novelty of your '59 and '00 are interesting, I don't think that they are worth much over face value. I'd probably save that Greaser in a 2x2 though as it is a very good example.

Thanks everyone for the much needed knowledge. I am missing a spot in my Jefferson book for the 59 P so it'll will probably end up finding its home there. The grease strike is flipped and put up for a rainy day. The Dryer Coin is gonna go to my wife's uglies collection. So at least they all found a home for now. Thanks again and I look forward to being more involved in this community down the road.
