This issue has me frustrated for several reasons. It has been on my upgrade list for a long time, mostly because I can't find one I like for less than a Grand. It's also frustrating because the dies for that coin seemed to have been, generally, crap; so, even a mint condition coin isn't a work of art. Here are the best photos I can get with my phone [although it's hard to tell, there is separation between cheek and beard] but don't bother trying to grade it.

1. What do y'all make of the vertical, straight line on the reverse? I've seen this before on the obverse of a mint condition coin posted on this forum in the last couple years.
2. Does anyone have an extra 24-d for sale?
3. General comments on the 1924 Lincolns as a whole.
4. Merry Christmas!

I would grade it F-12 if that, to be honest. Can't grade these by what "should" be there. Just my opinion.

PS - Here is a beautiful VF from a reputable company for $75 - 113344710863

Frog, do you see any raw 24-d that would qualify as MS? I'm not going to have it certified but with this issue I can't pick a good one.
Rest in Peace

Has an NGC MS-65RB 1924-D Lincoln . His prices are very high retail but you never have to worry about getting an inferior coin . I've bought from him before and always received a coin better than I expected .

Here's my 24-D. I spent a fair amount of time looking for it because as you say, anything in MS grade ain't cheap (or easy). Mine is an NGC MS63RB crackout that I got a couple of years ago for a little over $500 which is near my limit for cracking a coin out of a slab.

These branch mint D + S coins in the teens and twenties are really tough to find at reasonable prices; some like the 24-D took me several months to find.

T-Bop: I'm sure that would be a high-of-the-pop coin, but with 24-d cents, it still wouldn't be all that great and I'd want to crack it out of the slab, anyway. I have a love-hate relationship with this one: I'd love to find a decent specimen, but I'd hate to spend 4-figures for it because none of them are that attractive. Sometimes I just get a bee in my bonnet about certain LWCs and I can't settle until I've either found an adequate upgrade or something else diverts me. Sort of like a fifty year old kitten.

KenKat: Yes, I've admired you 24-D from afar in the past. It's a nice match to the 24-P. It also has a rare quality lacking in most of the 24-D population: it has 3-D relief. It's a nice strike. I think they just stretched their dies too far in Denver in the early 20's, IMHO.
