I remember buying one in MS62 condition for $2800 and selling it again at $4400 (all prices in CAD). Now I am seeing these sell for $1400-$1800 CAD. Any idea why these have dropped in price so dramatically? I have the opportunity to buy one in MS64 at $3000 and I am very seriously considering it.

Provide examples of properly graded MS62 coins that have SOLD for 1400 to 1800 CAD recently ? These bring 2 K to 22 hundred all day . MS64 coin properly graded easy 5K or more depending on the eye appeal. With all due respect , me thinks yer all wet!

This is not a rare coin. It is what I call a "money" coin. If you want one, all it takes is money to buy one.

Pacificcoin, search ebay sold history, Stack's Bowers past auctions and heritage past auction before you start with insults.

Lousy market.
Don't have any dealer tell you different.

I would have to agree. I continue to maintain that the price of Canadian coinage will continue to drop. As always, there are some exceptions in rarities but over all the trend is downwards. Right now the Americans have expendable income and are buying Canadian coins. Once that gravy train stops, the prices will further decline, Saying that, when the next recession does hit, expect the price of metals to move upwards and the melt coins along with it.

No insults intended , still waiting to see some SALES of properly Graded MS62 coins at 1400 CAD. You just can't throw out a statement and not back it up . Last three ICCS 62 coins that we sold were all at around 2200 CAD . One brought 2100 at our table at a collectible show in the Fraser Valley Sold a particularly attractive piece to a Collector in Victoria last years Coin show for 2200. Sold a third piece last year to a Lower Mainland Dealer for 2K as he needed one for a Customer . As stated 1948 Dollars are money coins and the market is pretty rock solid . Find me three at 1500 CAD each ( ICCS 62 ) 2 or 3 letters does not matter and I will gladly Fedex your Payment !

When did you sell an MS-62 for $4400?!? There's nothing listed on ebay right now in a TPG holder in MS for less than $1900. Add on 13% tax in Ontario and it's over $2150 with shipping.

Cdncoins, 2013 on ebay was my last sale. I keep answering your question but one of the mods keeps deleting it.

I assume those prices from Heritage are in USD and do not consider the duties you would have to pay to have it shipped across border.

Yes, and $1500 US is $2000 Cdn. You can go to nearly any show in a larger Metro area and find 5-6 or more for sale by dealers. It's not a scarce or rare coin ... it's one with history and years of collecting stories behind it. Wasn't it last year that someone sold almost a whole ROLL of them at auction? Yes, here is the thread about the roll for sale ... at least I thought that there was a roll and some went as a smaller lot. http://goccf.com/t/357920&SearchTer...,dollar,roll

As I thought not a SINGLE EXAMPLE at $1400 CAD or Even $1500 CAD . That said in answer to the OP question about a properly Graded by Canadian Standards 1948 MS64 @ 3 K CAD Would be an incredibly great deal if you can do it! Include that one in the lot with the 3 ICCS 62 s @ 1500 each and invoice me @ $3500 . Instant payment and I will pay the shipping costs as well !
