I think these examples of 1948 sales prices reinforces my ongoing argument of why I prefe ICCS graded coins over NGC and PCGS for maximizing your value in Canadian coins.

It was a low mintage coin. India gained independence in 1947 and the latin relating to the king being the emperor of India (et ind imp) had to be deleted from the obverse. So in the time frame we have 1947, 1947 ML and 1948 (1947ML being a coin struck in 1948 with the old obverse).

It has the lowest mintage of all the silver dollars (18,780), ergo it commands the highest price

Do you think the specimen strike of the 1948 dollar can also be affected by this ?

The PCGS pop show this year is fairly common in specimen (64 grader by PCGS, only beaten by 1937 and 1939 in matte ) but the price realized are usually way above most of the others years. So, I assume the price in specimen are strongly influenced by the relative rarity of the year in business strike...

Affected by what ....so called drop in price of 1948 Dollars ?
Highly doubt it , for the hundredth time the 1948 Dollar is a MONEY coin
and the market for the issue is pretty solid .
If you can't get close to Trends in Canada you sure will in the US . That is where most of the
Nice ones end up anyways .

I assume those prices from Heritage are in USD and do not consider the duties you would have to pay to have it shipped across border.

Correct. Shipping and any relevant taxes aren't included in the Heritage prices
