Here's probably my last coin purchase of 2019.... Chutas of Banavasi .. Rajno Mulanandasa....Lead double Karshapana 27mm and 15.03gr...AD 125-345 Obverse..2 tiered hill of small arches surmounted by a large arch (8 arched Chaitya, stupa)?, river flowing below. Brahmi legend around..'Rano Mulanandas'. Reverse..Railed tree with 2 symbols either side..Srivatsa, Indra-dhvaja, Swastika, Triratana. Mitchiner ACW 4971 - 4972 There is a great deal of controversy over these coins as to whether they were from the Ananda Dynasty or the Chutas. Also the reading of the script seems to be all over the place....So I'll stick with Mitchiner's desciption. Here's an interesting link... https://coins.techcollections.info/...anavasi.htmlThe reverse symbols... Srivatsa..A mark on the chest of Vishnu..Beloved of Sri (The goddess Lakshmi Indra-dhvaja..Standard/Flag of the god Indra. Swastika..Symbol of prosperity and good fortune. Triratna ?..Represents the 3 jewels of Buddhism..The Buddha, the Dharma and the Sangha....Note this symbol is also described on many references as the Nandi-Pada (Taurine)The foot of Nandi

Such an interesting type. You finished out the year with a good one, Paul. Thanks for sharing and for the graphics.

Super coin Paul, I've been wanting one of this type for sometime. The ones I've seen aren't as nice as this one.

Thanks Bob and Ron....I've been trying to pick up a decent example of this type for a few months now and kept getting overbid on at the last second so I'm really pleased I managed to land this one.. ...Paul

Managed to pick up another nicely detailed variant of this type...Must say I do like the colouring of these lead coins... @Spence..Nice coin..Thanks for posting... Here she is.... Chutas of Banavasi .. Rajno Mulanandasa....Lead double Karshapana 30mm and 13.40gr...AD 125-345 Obverse..2 tiered hill of small arches surmounted by a large arch (8 arched Chaitya, stupa)?, river flowing below. Brahmi legend around..'Rano Mulanandas'.(Elongated LA) Reverse..12 Railed tree with Triratana to the right. Mitchiner ACW 4971 - 4972 Below you can see the difference between the LA (If thats what it is) symbol at 12 O'clock obverse. Also when this more elongated thinner style LA is used the reverse design completely changes depicting only one symbol, the Triratana, to the right of the tree. Also the railing has 12 rectangular holes unlike the OP coin which only has 4.

Another cool variant of the type. Look out for rabbit holes, Paul. This could potentially be the start of a new series and collecting focus.

@palouche, glad to see the new addition. I wonder--do you have any thoughts on how best to store these lead coins? I just have mine in a 2x2, but wonder about if that is acceptable. Thx.

On the subject of those lead coins... is this object I bought yesterday really (the remaining part of) an Indian lead coin? That's how I attributed it originally (mainly because it looked like lead, and the bin it came from mostly contained Indian coins), but there isn't quite a match with those series, so I'm no longer sure... 19x13 mm (probably used to have a diameter close to 19 mm) 2.59 grams (probably used to weigh slightly over 3 grams) I sincerely apologize for the relative lack of photo quality.
