Is 8x face for Canadian silver and 9x face for U.S. silver a good deal?

I would not mind buying US silver at 9x as long as the coins are not extremely worn.

With silver prices the way they are today (10/08/2008), I'd want at least EF coins for 9X face unless they're silver dollars.
You should be able to find 90% U.S. silver in AU condition at 9X face right now.
As for the Canadian, verify the silver content before looking any further.

If you can find 9X, it's a good deal from where I sit. Dealers here are still at 11X.

Yeah, in case no one has noticed, things sold on the bay are still getting 10x, 11x easy.

I sold yesterday for 9X to the shop. I sold about 6.00 face. They were buying 7.5X 2 weeks ago. They've been selling for 12X for some time now. Most of what I sold were all old dirty coins that I paid face for. So I made some money. So IMO buying at 9X around here will not be doable for some time

It's all pre-67 coins. Even some UK(?) shillings dotting the group.

With the prices the way they are lately I would first check the prices a few hours before you buy anything. Every time I look it is either up or down and a lot.

We're paying 8x and selling at 12x at work. I'd go for 9x no doubt.
Canadian I shy away from though.

Before buying bulk Canadian silver, the question you might ask would be...who will buy when you need to sell? Dealers around here won't buy perhaps due to the different silver ratios....925, .8, .5

I just went in to try and buy some silver and the coin shop is almost cleaned out as of today and the $2.00+ drop in silver. What they did have was 14x face value for AG-F condition. Their issue is two things:
1. The places they buy silver are drying up and are wanting more than spot because they know they can sell it and 2. most items they have were bought months ago when silver was $16+ and still trying to make a small profit.
