Immediate goal: get a 2020-dated coin for the upcoming HFBCWG-6. This is really a 2019 goal that spilled over into 2020; the deadline is roughly January 7th.
Other than that...
1) Get some more missing dates for my OFEY 1a) In particular, fill in the remaining post-1800 holes (1850, 1847, 1845, 1844, 1839, 1829, 1827, 1823, 1821, 1817, 1811) 1b) If possible, get an unbroken line even further back 1c) Regardless of any actual progress, take photos of all of those coins for posting on CCF (this is harder than it sounds, because the smartphone serving as my camera has horrible battery problems)
2) Related to the above: get some dated Islamic coins from the 15th century AD 2a) Non-Islamic dated (and/or single-year-type) coins from the 15th century AD would be welcome, but unlikely to fit within my budget 2b) Dated coins from before the 15th century are useful as well, though I already have a bunch of those
3) Get to 400 issuers on Numista (currently 348)... if that's still a thing by the time I get there 3a) If possible, also get to 250 countries (currently 234)
4) Fill some of the remaining holes in my Dansco 7070 album 4a) In particular, get at least one classic commemorative, and at least one Seated Liberty silver
5) Get at least one more coin for my Romanian type set attempt 5a) If I can find some Mongolian coins I didn't have yet, that would be cool as well
6) Formalize my USSR non-commemorative type set progress, figure out what (if anything) I'm still missing, and get it (...discounting the 1921 ruble and the gold, which are out of my budget)
...Probably others I'm forgetting. Will try to think of more later.

My 2020 goals are similar to those of j1m: 0) Receive and photograph a 2020 coin, for the HFBCWG6 thread (coins have been ordered). 1) Add some more dates for the OFEY subcollection -- these will be in the 1400s. 2) Some of these dates (like 1486 and 1464) for the OFEY subcollection will have to be Islamic. 3) Add some more Numista issuers/contries for my OFEI/OFEC subcollection (see #6 below) 4) Replace some of the unslabbed coins in my virtual 7070 subcollection with slabbed ones -- this will mostly be quarters and half dollars. 5) (I don't plan to add any Romanian or Mongolian coins.) 6) Add something from the Rus Principalities (probably Moscow). Unfortunately, it's hard to find one on ebay that's also already in the Numista catalog.

I was ambitious a few years back when I first started my annual numismatic goal list, having some 10 or 15 goals. I've become more selective (i.e., realistic) over the years to make things more attainable. 2020 1. "Complete" PCGS Ike collection (remaining '71-'78) 2. Monthly silver stacking goal 3. 100 world bank notes 4. Backfill 10 ASEs into the CAPS album 5. Keep current with US Mint products that I collect (annual sets, ASEs, ATBs, etc.) I'd like to do a lot more than this but I'll be lucky to check all these off. Also my priorities may change a bit over the year, but I think this is a good start. Good luck, everyone!

2020 goals 1) Add more unique reference books to my library. Does not include newer editions of books I already have- at least 12 2) Add 10 more silver Roosevelt dimes to my PCGS slab set I am building 3) Add 4 or more gold coins to my collection - US or World 4) add to Oklahoma token collection 1 and 4 are guarantees to occur. 2 and 3 may only be partially achieved. As has been said by others, priorities may shift or I may see something shiney I just can't refuse along the way that throws me off track. But for today those would be my goals.

I would love to find the time to go through all these coins I'm hoarding. I started this for 2 reasons. Two years ago on Christmas I saw an article that your coins maybe worth more than face dollar. Also kids and I had a subscription from my GM to get coins in little cellophane wrappers from Littlton (? Whatever its called) of the first 50 State Quarters. They were all uncirculated and said to be atleast MS60; unfortunately most of them were stolen. I started collecting them holding on to the prettiest coins. Then I heard the words Error and Variety. Along with worth $?, instantly addicted! It got to the point where I wouldn't get rid of any coin because what if that's not PMD & it's some strange error that I haven't seen a post or YouTube video on yet. I have some coins that bewilder me. No one in the house understood/stands my fascination as I had not sold anything. Therefore I was/am just Hoarding.
Goal 1 is to put pictures on my computer then try to upload. It just won't work from my phone. Goal 2 is to properly identify each error & hopefully make money.

Quote:I can always hold off starting it until you tell me you have one. You don't need to, because I already have one now it was easier to find than I expected. (In any case, the 5th edition is now waiting for EddieDiz, and might well end up stalled for a while longer.) Other gaps filled in my OFEY today: 1839, 1829, 1796, 1772, 1637 (OK, that last one isn't really a "gap" as such, just another date I didn't have before). Down to 9 dates missing in the 1800-present range (and 15 more in the 1750-1800 range). No progress on any of my other stated goals (yet), though I did get a Russian Empire type that I've long been looking for (in sufficiently terrible condition to be affordable), and should probably add "formalize my Russian Empire AE type set, and fill at least some of the holes" to the goals. (Now that I think of it, I'm pretty sure I've actually formalized it back in 2016; I'm currently looking through my 2016 list as updated in 2017, and comparing it with what I have listed on Numista. It seems that I might not be missing that much, but the 2016/17 list and my Numista collection appear to have a lot of divergences?)

@justcarl Quote: Stop going to so many coin shows. Well. Hope you were planning on going to the next NOISE show in Itasca in a few weeks. Was going to hang out by the coffee and donuts early.

Complete my collection of Newfoundland 20 cents (also, progress on 1 cent, 5 cent and 10 cent). Also, continue to refine my grading skills and knowledge of the variants.
Regarding the variants; one reason that people like the Newfoundland coins is that they are supposed to be a relatively small set - around 300 in total. In fact, if you factor in the varieties, it's got to be more than 1,000 many of which are exceedingly rare. I imagine this is the case with all coin sets.

I thought you'd like that one, jbuck. I haven't updated my PCGS Ike thread in a while but I've made some good progress.

Probably 1778 as well, but I'm not entirely confident of the date. Down to 8 missing dates at 1800-present, and 13 (12?) more at 1750-1800.
