I found a silver colored 1952 with copper on the rim. It is slightly magnetic, but not nearly as strong as a steel penny for example. If my coin was an error, it would be more magnetic, and not have any of the copper coloring in the rim.

Your coin could be plated. Also What is that circular thingy along the rim on reverse? Die crack? Or is it a fake coin? Weighting a coin will help.

It has been plated, that's why it is slightly magnetic. I have one from the same year.

If your coin was made of steel, it wouldn't be an error, it would be a counterfeit. Only during WWII did the mint issue steel cents (1943 & a few in 44), and I am certain there would not have been "left over" steel just laying around in 1952 for an accidental steel minting.
