Hey everyone, so today I found this 1964 silver half dollar along with two Morgan silver dollars put away in a box for a watch. This half dollar just seemed odd to me because of the deep features in the face and the fact that it has a very nice square rim. Most silver half dollars I find are too worn too see the original features, so this could be normal on less circulated coins, that's why I came here.
What do you all think?

The line of black spots may be silver chloride or silver sulfide (not removable).
If they are not, perhaps acetone will remove them.

I didn't want to touch this one with acetone because the last time I tried to clean a silver coin with iso, the sheen came off and became dull. Will acetone hurt silver?
Rest in Peace

No , acetone will not hurt and coin material . Whether a quick dip or long soak it is perfectly safe on all coins .

I just recently heard about the 1964 SMS half dollars. I know it's far fetched but, but I have a few pictures to share after looking through heritage and PCGS photos.

In the pictures, the B in LIBERTY is very similar to the one I saw on Heritage, and I can't tell on the 4 but it seems to have had that teardrop but the patina/toning seems to have overtaken it.

Again, I know it's a long shot, but this was part of my grandfathers collection and were put aside with a couple Morgan silver dollars.

Looks like a tiny counter stamp, or an indent from a test punch.
But I note that it is in line with the black spots.
Why is it there? - I am bereft of an explanation.

I will try to clean it with acetone to see if it makes the 4 more visible. Will nail polish remover work, or does it have to be straight acetone?

So I did an acetone bath on this coin as suggested, and not much changed, however, the picture I am including is of the 4.
The acetone bath seems to have gotten rid of whatever was covering it. There does seem to be a teardrop now, but I am unsure if this is just part of the normal 4, so I ask here.
