Hello to all you numismatists. I just started collecting coins again after about 40 years of doing nothing but buying a set of 50 State Quarters in about 2010.

Just since May 2019 when I got interested in the hobby again, I have purchased a lot of Littleton collector's albums and the preservation sets for each of the series that I have. I also purchased a collection from my massage therapist who inherited it from his grandfather. There were a lot of really nice and old coins in it including Barber quarters, dimes, nickels, walking liberty and Franklin halves, Morgan and Peace dollars as well as newer issues like the first Presidential dollar and Kennedy halves.

What really triggered this renewed interest was the purchase of a set of 10 US gold 1/10 oz coins for investment. It made me get out my small collection from the 1970s plus the State Quarters and realize how much I missed during those years.

Since then, I have been working on building up my collection of mint and proof sets as well as individual coins, filling in mostly my gaps in modern coins while they are still available in uncirculated condition for reasonable prices. I have also begun to collect US silver eagles and commemorative coins that I didn't even know existed before.

I'm looking forward to discussions on this forum and learning more about the hobby.

This is almost exactly my experience. I collected Canadian pennies from the age of about 8 to 15 - my collection was stollen during a break in at my parents' house in 1980 and I couldn't face rebuilding at that time.

Recently I decided to get rolling again - I've been at it for about two years though it was a slow start. After that long incubation I've focused on various pre-confederation coins: Newfoundland in particular. Having a terrific time! The thrill is looking for surprises if you ask me. Reading lots and making some discoveries.

Anyway, best of luck to you....
