Plated coins like this are often slightly magnetic.

ahhh ok, someone said it was a steel penny pressed into something else, but it is highly magnetic

Most likely it is the bezel the coin is in that is magnetic.

the magnet sticks everywhere, but ok, ive had it for about 30 years so ill just keep holding onto it, thanks everyone for their input

It's a bezel around the coin. It was intended as a cheap piece of jewelry for kids in the forty's & fifty's. here's one I found metal detecting
